Because of the deprivation in the area many residents in North Ormesby are unable to access the internet. A resident secured funding through “UnLtd” for equipment and we are now marketing, holding public meetings and running trials to deliver a “wireless” broadcast (wi-fi) broadband ADSL internet access service to the community. The service is to be made available at an affordable cost and to be independent of the service user’s ability to access orthodox financial services. Service users will be able to pay, in cash, in advance, at Info Point. We will initially employ a part time local resident and as the enterprise develops will offer opportunities for training and employment.
